Junior High Band Class Description

1st Period
Honors Band
This band is made up of mostly third year players along with advanced 2nd year players (no beginners). They will participate in concerts, pep rallies, 2 football games in the fall. In the Spring they will do at least 2 Contest and Sight reading contests and a trip to six flags. The band is directed by Mr. Hutcheson and assisted by Mr. Webb, Mr. McClure, and Mr. Brewer.
Honors Band

2nd Period
Maroon Band
This band is made up of mostly second year players (no beginners). They will participate in concerts and one pep rally. In the Spring they will do at least 2 Contest and Sight reading contests and Sandy Lake. The band is directed by Mr. Webb and assisted by Mr. Hutcheson, Mr. McClure, and Mr. Brewer.
Maroon Band
This band is made up of mostly second year players (no beginners). They will participate in concerts and one pep rally. In the Spring they will do at least 2 Contest and Sight reading contests and Sandy Lake. The band is directed by Mr. Webb and assisted by Mr. Hutcheson, Mr. McClure, and Mr. Brewer.
3rd Period
White Band
This band is made up of 7th and 8th graders. This band is made up of some beginners as well as 2nd and 3rd year players who need another year of basics. They will participate in the SOS Concert and Sightreading Contest as well as at least two concerts. They will also participate in the Sandy Lake Contest as well. The band is directed by Mr. Webb and assisted by Mr. Hutcheson.
White Band
This band is made up of 7th and 8th graders. This band is made up of some beginners as well as 2nd and 3rd year players who need another year of basics. They will participate in the SOS Concert and Sightreading Contest as well as at least two concerts. They will also participate in the Sandy Lake Contest as well. The band is directed by Mr. Webb and assisted by Mr. Hutcheson.
8th Period
Jazz Band
This band is made up of approved 7th and 8th graders. Jazz band class is an extention of regular band class (they can not take jazz band by itself).. Since this is the most advanced class offered, students should also be in the top Varsity band and absolutely no beginners. The students will have at least 3 concerts, including the Annual Jazz Night the second Thursday of May. This will participate at the Sandy Lake Contest. The band is directed by Mr. Hutcheson.
